Four and One Half Months...

Sam has gotten so big over the last few months. Personaly, I really enjoy all of his new expressions and watching him learning about new things. Every morning, Ryan and Sam enjoy watching the little birds feed at the bird feeder on the back deck. Sam really has taken to watching them fly back and forth. He likes to shake is head "No No" a lot, this is his latest trick. He is working on rolling completely over, so far he really likes to roll side to side. He has also started giggling when you tickle him! So cute! I often times catch him sucking his bottom lip...I think that he likes doing this beacuse of his two bottom teeth.

Our Littlest Friend

I think that my Papou would be so glad to know that we have a junior squirrel that has taken up residence near our house. He is so small that we think he was new this year or about a year old. He is very curious and visits often. Recently we also put out Humming bird feeders and have had a few visitors! They are so great an sooo very small! We tried putting feeders up last year but, none showed. They seem to be attracted to our Morning Glories. The squirrel and the Humming birds are a great new addition to our yard this summer.

July 30th - A Date for the Day!

Today Ryan and I headed for Colorado Springs for a date all ALONE!!! Yeah! Sam was at home playing with Laura (she is one of Sam's favorite Babysitters). A friend of mine Ali told me about this hike. The entrance to the Punch Bowl hike begins on the property of Glen Eyrie. Glen Eyrie is a large piece of land which also has a castle on it that is owned by the Navigators, a Christian organization. Ali and her husband were actually engaged at the castle. It is a beautiful place to visit and now Ryan and I have gone on the hike! Just shy of a mile into your hike you come to Dorthy Falls (see pic below). To the right of the falls is a very steep and rocky incline that leads you to another trail and the Punch Bowls!! The Punch Bowls are a series of 5 pools of water that are carved into the granite rocks. The largest of the pools (see pic above) is large enough to jump into from the sides and swim around in. The day we went was very hot and the bowls were full of people enjoying a cool dip! Next time we come we'll have to bring bathing suites.
On the way back down we spotted several Big Horn Sheep! There were two adult sheep and two young sheep. They are so agile on the rocks. They do much better than Ryan and I, even on a pretty flat trail! :) One of the adults was marked with some sort of tracking device around its neck.
This is one of the junior sheep that Ryan is trying to point to! It is slightly to the left of the "point."
We went out for pizza at a little pizza joint in downtown Colorado Springs. Indulged in a little ice cream at a local favorite, Josh & John's, they make home made ice cream! So yummy! We then went out and took the new Tiguan (VW's small size SUV) out for a spin. It was a great day! And our first real date in quite some time!! We are hoping to get away again sometime soon!
